A tray dryer is a closed, insulated chamber in which trays are stacked on trolleys on top of one another or on shelves. During the heating process, the item(solid or moist) to be dried is placed on the tray.
The heat in the dryers can be generated through various heating mediums such as electric heaters, steam, thermic fluid, diesel, or gas. Forced convection through hot air blowers ensures proper heat transfer and thermal equilibrium.
Forced convection heating removes moisture from the material placed in the trays. Air vents provided on the dryer ensure sufficient air changes. The air passes through the heaters and the turbulent airflow ensures that the heated air reaches the wet material kept on each tray.
A consistent airflow and steady temperature can be maintained over the material to achieve uniform drying. If the materials to be dried are wet granules, such as a capsule or tablet drying, the drying process is repeated until the appropriate moisture content is reached.
It is a device with an excellent ability to aid in the drying of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, powder, vegetables, fruits, areca nut (supari), and spices among other things. A moisture extractor connected with a digital cyclic timer is also provided for fast drying.
